For years, I wrote by industry standards.  I followed the rules, made certain to tone down subject matter.  As a result, I never really felt proud of my work.  Then, two years ago, I had an idea for a really big, ballsy book.  Too much for me, I actually thought.  I doubted if I could pull this thing off.  However, I had a really great group of women willing to read it as I went and lend me their support. 

TAKEN took on a life of its own.  Right away, it became clear to me the only way to tell this story would be to pull out all stops.  I wrote without confines and the book poured out of me.  My Ladies of the Word cheered me on, offered their ears for my rants and idea-bouncing, and generally gave me the encouragement I needed to finish what felt like my first ‘real’ book.  I finished on a Saturday and wrote the first two chapters of UNLEASHED the following day.

UNTOLD seemed natural to write after that, to tell the stories of couples from the first two books.  Then, I began DESTINED, which follows the original James Garrett’s grandson and namesake.  I hope to have it released in January 2009.

This series shocks some readers.  But, they always come back for more.  I think because I loved the characters so much, they fall in love with them, too.

When I set out to write about a modern Garrett, something interesting happened.  I came up with the concept of a male/male romance.  Anyone who has read my historicals knows it’s in the Garrett blood to appreciate both sexes.  But, this Garrett settled on a man and with the legendary Garrett man mating instinct and didn’t look left or right ever again.
